Tearoom

Views to be enjoyed from the Tearoom including Achill Island and Blacksod Bay

The Tearoom at the Visitor Centre serves a selection of light lunches, sandwiches, soup, coffees, teas and cakes. The tearoom at Ballycroy National Park Visitor Centre offers splendid views of Ballycroy, Achill Island and Blacksod Bay. Please click here for tearoom page.

Below are two links with a guide to the plants of the trail (photographic) and a wonderfully illustrated bird guide. Feel free to download and print them out and bring them with you on your visit to help improve your wildlife ID skills. We also can provide a copy on your arrival at the visitor centre, just ask the guide at the desk.

Heading out in search of bog life!

The National Park runs an education centre at the Visitor Centre with programmes for visiting primary and secondary schools.

We also can provide lectures, demonstrations and talks for other interested groups and 3rd level students.

Biodiversity Banner - The Interconnected Earth - International Decade for Biodiversity 2010

To launch the International Year of Biodiversity, the Botanic Gardens celebrated with a unique, specially commissioned piece of art that demonstrates the diversity, and intricacy of the Natural World. Interconnected Earth is a 50 foot long banner depicting everything from pollen grains to blue whales all linked through the double helix of a DNA molecule. The banner is on display at Ballycroy National Park Visitor Centre (see photo below) as well as the other 5 National Parks in the country.
